Ford introduces the new E-Transit, a fully electric version of the big van favorite that offers traders many consumer benefits.
"As the market leader in vans in both Europe and the United States, the move to powered vans and fleets is critical for us to meet our CO2 neutrality goal by 2050. Ford has already established itself as the market leader in the award-winning Transit Custom Plug-in Hybrid. According to Jim Farley, Ford's CEO, electrified vans are excellent for the environment while also significantly benefiting consumers. These include decreased operating costs and innovative internet solutions that help customers' businesses.
Major cities from London to Los Angeles have begun implementing emission-free environmental zones to minimize CO2 emissions and noise pollution in metropolitan areas due to the increasing number of vans on the road worldwide.
"We are naturally committed to assisting our customers in the transition to powered vans because Ford vans are favorites in everything from master vans to emergency vehicles. At this time, the new E-Transit is unique in that it is based on an online platform that will help customers' daily work by providing vital data. At the same time, as other vans join the network, customer benefits will expand," adds Hau Thai-Tang.
The new e-Transit battery has a usable capacity of 67 kWh, giving it a range of up to 350 kilometers (WLTP). The range is around three times the distance the average European van travels in a day, covering everyday working life and more.
As a result, the battery has enough capacity to accommodate variances in the van's load and changing weather conditions. This makes E-Transit excellent for driving in metropolitan areas and environmentally sensitive locations without fleet operators having to pay for unused battery capacity.
Ford E-Transit also comes with three different driving modes: Normal, Slippery, and Eco, which entirely use the van's all-electric drivetrain. When the van is empty, Eco-Mode reduces power consumption by up to 10%. The driving software restricts the top speed, regulates acceleration, and optimizes the air conditioning to maximize the range.
Furthermore, the E-Transit has a cabin preheating function, which allows the air conditioner to be programmed to adjust the cabin's ideal temperature while the vehicle is charging. At the same time, it ensures that the maximum amount of range is accessible at starting.
Compared to a similar diesel-powered Transit, the new E-Transit assists traders with a more ecological image and provides much cheaper running expenses. As a result, the company's operating costs have been cut by around 40%.
Customers in Europe will receive a class-leading 2-year standard warranty with no mileage limit. The battery and high-voltage components are covered for eight years or 160,000 kilometers driven, whichever comes first.
The new Ford E-Transit may be charged using both AC and DC power. The electric van can be charged 100 percent in roughly 8 hours with 11.3 kW AC charging via a charging box with a normal charging socket with a charging box. E-Transit can be charged from 15 to 80 percent in around 34 minutes using DC lightning charging of up to 115 kW, which corresponds to a European lunch break.
Ford will provide various charging options for varied client demands, including at home, at work, and in public.

Pro Power Onboard will be available for purchase to European clients. With the addition of this feature, E-Transit becomes a mobile power source capable of supplying up to 2.3 kW to power tools and equipment. According to Ford, this is the first electric vehicle in the European van class weighs less than 3.5 tonnes.
A FordPass Connect modem is also included as a standard. The modem connects the van to the internet. In addition, it offers various useful features, such as wireless software updates and the ability to locate charging stations while on the road. Other FordPass app features include a summary of the van's most critical status information, position, remote start, and remote lock.
E-Transit also has Ford's new SYNC 4 infotainment system. The system is suited to E-Transit with a 12-inch touch screen, better speech recognition, and a cloud-optimized navigation system. In addition, SYNC 4 can remotely update E-software, Transit's ensuring that the van is always updated with quality improvements and new features.
Advanced driver aid technologies, including sign recognition and intelligent cruise control, are included in E-Transit. These technologies work together to register appropriate speed limits and allow fleet operators to set their own speed limits in the van.
Pre-Collision Assist, Blind Spot Information System, 360-degree camera with Reverse Brake Assist, and automatic parking brake are among the other features.
The Ford E-Transit electric van battery is hidden beneath the cargo floor, so it does not obstruct cargo space. However, as with similar diesel-powered Transit models with rear-wheel drive, the load area still has up to 15.1 cubic meters of room.
Furthermore, Ford engineers improved the van's driveline and independent rear suspension to provide even more traction and steering than before. Ford's strong Transit history continues with E-Transit, which has made the van favorite world-famous for its ability to tackle even heavy work activities while providing passenger car-like driving comfort.
The cargo capacity of the E-Transit as a Van model in Europe is estimated to be up to 1,616 kg, while the payload capacity of the E-Transit as a Chassis model is expected to be up to 1,967 kg. The electric motor used by E-Transit has a maximum output of 198 kW (269 hp) and a torque of 430 Nm. As a result, the E-Transit electric motor is the most powerful of its kind in Europe. Furthermore, the van's rear-wheel drive gives excellent traction, even when carrying hefty loads.
The company's Ford Otosan plant in Kocaeli, Turkey, will produce E-Transit for European clients. The E-Transit for North American consumers will be manufactured in Ford's Kansas City facility in Claycomo, Missouri.
The new Ford E-Transit electric van is planned to debut in the first half of 2022. Prices will be disclosed closer to the debut date.
